Acceptance of event messages from all pre-IMS and IMS NEs and other class-5 softswitch modules

CDRs may be constructed from a set of several different charging events or from a single charging event. The results of eMediate CDF tasks are CDRs with defined content and known format. The content and format of these CDRs are specified per domain / subsystem / service in the related middle tier charging specification.

QuadManage eMediate CDF roles are:

  1. Acceptance of event messages from all pre-IMS and IMS NEs and other class-5 softswitch modules
  2. Correlate and aggregate event sets – eMediate CDF accepts charging events describing different phases of different sessions. It correlates these events into coherent sets and aggregates them into their specific NE format style CDR.
  3. Duplicates prevention – the system employs several methods to prevent duplicate CDR generation: e.g. Discard duplicate event messages, Discard overdue retransmitted events, pending event sets during communication failures etc.
  4. Forward CDRs – eMediate CDF sends generated CDRs upon creation to eMediate CGF for further processing.
  5. Events storage –eMediate CDF optionally saves all received event messages for CDR reconstruction requirement.
  6. CDR filtering and alerting - eMediate CDF is capable of filtering out produced NE CDRs based on specific attributes of the CDRs. The filtering capability allows for rules definition, based on which every CDR is checked against and based on the check result with any criterion it is furthered processed e.g. discarded, alerted upon or even backed up in a different folder for usage by a northbound client.
